Boycott Over? RIIZE Accounts Completely Recover From Initial Outrage

In November 2023, it was announced that then-RIIZE‘s Seunghan would take a break from promotions. Nearly a year later, the idol was announced to be rejoining activities, before a storm of protests resulted in his leaving the group less than two days after the initial announcement.

This sparked worldwide outrage as fans of the group, and K-Pop fans in general, as international fans protested the idol’s removal. Many K-Pop stores worldwide announced they would not stock new RIIZE albums to protest alongside fans.
As protests continued, the group also saw a massive loss of followers across their social media accounts. At one point, the total hit over 500 thousand, a significant amount for any group.
However, the group seems to have recovered from this drop in their social media following.
On their X account, RIIZE dropped from 810,978 followers to 770,532 following Seunghan’s removal. Currently, RIIZE have 798,000 followers, which has steadily grown since the dip.

RIIZE’s TikTok had upwards of 3,543,847 followers and dropped to 3,496,199, a loss of 47,648 followers. The group has surpassed their previous amount, and currently have 3.8 million followers.
The group’s Instagram account has 4.17 million followers, recovering from the drop the group saw to 3.96 million and surpassing the previous amount.

Though there are many that are still protesting against SM Entertainment by boycotting, enough have joined the fandom or stopped that the previous results were offset.
Seunghan is set to make his solo debut, which you can read more about below.
