Ryoki’s image took a hit after infidelity allegations surfaced, with the public accusing him of using R-chan for her wealth. The situation escalated when Shukan Bunshun, a major Japanese tabloid, revealed that it had obtained two video recordings allegedly related to the case. Though BE:FIRST’s agency, BMSG, confirmed that Ryoki had been in a serious relationship with R-chan, the agency also said that the couple had split amicably, and that no unlawful activity had occurred.

On May 25, BMSG announced that Ryoki will be halting his group activities with BE:FIRST after the group performs on July 5 for their Singapore World Tour. Ryoki personally explained why he will be taking this break.

I’ve thought deeply about everything that’s happened — the reports, my personal experiences, and where I’m headed as an individual. After all that reflection, I’ve reached the conclusion that it’s time for me to walk my own path. I’ve decided to go independent.

On May 24 and 25, Shūkan Bunshun released a two-part interview with Ryoki that delved into his breakup with R-chan and more. According to media reports, R-chan personally responded to the interview on May 31. In his interview, Ryoki claimed to have accepted money from R-chan, but she said that was a lie. She claims to have given him ¥2 million yen (approximately $13,973 USD), monthly for an entire year, starting in September 2022, in addition to a family credit card for everyday purchases.

She also said that he greatly exceeded the spending limit she gave him for the card in September 2022. After she gave him ¥500,000 yen (approximately $3,493 USD) one time to cheer him up, plus permission to spend the same amount with the family credit card, he allegedly spent ¥1.5 million yen (approximately $10,483 USD) with the card.

In addition to a monthly allowance and the credit card, R-chan said she showered Ryoki with gifts, which included paying for his mother’s dental implants (¥1,584,000 yen, approximately $11,077 USD), totalling ¥100 million yen (about $699,495 USD). According to R-chan, Ryoki didn’t return any of the expensive gifts she gave him after they broke up, and she is now considering taking legal action.

In his interview, Ryoki said that he cut off contact with R-chan after their breakup in 2024 to avoid getting her hopes up for rekindling their romance (They were engaged at the time). This reportedly came after Ryoki was caught cheating on R-chan again and promised not to do it again. However, R-chan says that Ryoki was the one who tried to get back in touch with her post-breakup, and he refused to give her house keys back.

R-chan also revealed a disturbing detail about the breakup. She attempted to die by suicide, and when a mutual friend informed Ryoki about it, he allegedly told the friend that he was too busy filming the 2024 J-Drama Tora ni Tsubasa to reach out to R-chan.
